The Rules for Being Human are 10 little rules for living our lives. They were penned by Dr. Cherie Carter-Scott for the Chicken Soup for the Soul book. This is part 1 of a 10 part series to share a little more about each of these rules.
Rule #1 – You will receive a body. You may like it or hate it, but it’s the only thing you are sure to keep for the rest of your life.
Our bodies are to be loved no matter what they look like or how they may treat us because the alternative could be far worse. Are you generally healthy? Do you have all your limbs? Can you use all your senses? Are you literally starving to death?
Your body may not serve you as well as you would like but it serves you better than many. Enjoy your body. And in that effort, take care of it. If you don’t love it now, you can always do something about it! Since you will have this body and little else, for the rest of your life, why don’t you make it the best possible body you can so that it will treat you well as long as you have it.
