It’s hard to be happy. Just ask most Americans. Despite research that shows that 84% of Americans report being very or pretty happy, most Americans still regularly complain about their day to day situation. Therefore, it must be pretty hard to be happy!

Happiness, like exercise, dieting, quitting smoking and so many other things, often requires a great deal of willpower to get started. Lack of willpower is regularly reported as the number one reason individuals do not achieve their goals. Therefore, if most people feel they lack willpower and willpower is crucial to maintaining a positive attitude, then most people will feel they don’t have the ability to maintain a positive attitude resulting in a decrease in happiness.

Running with a friend is FUN! This week, I went to a gym to do one of my runs. My friend belongs to that gym so we went together. She pushed me to break many of my previous milestones. Having a partner for anything you do makes it an easier journey. No one likes to do anything alone for very long and a friend can really help motivate you when the energy level and desire wains.
